Public Info Requests
Public Information Requests
A law passed by the 2023 Montana Legislature established the Office of Public Information Requests, or OPIR, to promote consistency and efficiency in responding to requests for public information. All executive branch agencies, including TRS, have designated OPIR as their contact for such requests.
Requests for public records owned, used, or retained by TRS or any other state agency must be submitted on the OPIR website. A link is provided below.
Access the OPIR website: opir.mt.gov
For more information about the OPIR request procedure, timelines for processing requests, and potential fees, review the TRS Public Information Request Policy and Fee Schedule (pdf).
- Note: TRS members, benefit recipients, and employers may request their own records and benefit information by contacting TRS directly. Such requests are not public information requests.
